Last Minute Conference Reminders and Suggestions
Hi delegates,
Conference is just a couple of short days away!!!!!!! I hope everyone is as excited as my dais and I are. Here are a few reminders that may be helpful as the weekend nears closer.
For anyone who may be a bit nervous about the committee size:
Our committee is large, that is for sure. However, we will make sure to create a very supportive and fun-to-be-a part-of environment to ease any concerns you may have! In addition, there will be time to answer all ROP/committee related questions, and for any newer delegates that may be unsure about specific aspects of procedure, we can definitely review a bit. At the end of the day, we as the dais are here to be a resource for you all as the delegates, so you can have the best experience possible, and we are willing to do whatever is necessary to make that experience amazing.
Tech Policy:
Unlike many of the other committees at BMUN this year, we will operate as a full-tech committee. As a clarification for what that means, you will be allowed to use technology in committee. However, we would still recommend printing out research and having paper/pen/pencil available for speeches, so that you don't have to rely on a computer screen when speaking and can connect with your audience. In addition, we would like to stress that the tech policy does not mean you should be watching Avatar or shopping for new shoes during committee....tech is supposed to be a resource to help you all with the topics and debate, especially when it comes to collaboration and resolution writing. Please ask if you have any questions regarding the tech policy, and we will also go over this during the first committee session. :)
Office Hours:
Unfortunately, we are getting to the maximum capacity for office hours tomorrow afternoon. However, if you have any questions, we are still more than willing to answer them over email!
Solution Building:
Please refer to the most recent newsletter that was sent regarding suggestions about topic-related questions! In general, remember the 5 W's when writing solutions (Who, What, Where, When, Why). It is crucial to be as specific as possible when creating solutions, so everyone can understand specifically how your solution is working. You should be able to visualize your solution manifesting itself in the real world and working!
Logistics:
If you have any last-minute questions regarding conference logistics and forms such as the liability waiver or ADA/Allergy information form, please refer to the second newsletter that was sent on Monday to your emails!
We truly hope you are looking forward to committee. No matter what your goal is for conference, we hope you can get something valuable out of it, whether it is learning something new about the topic, passing a great resolution, or even just meeting some new friends! At the end of the day, BMUN is just a really great learning opportunity to practice public speaking and research skills!
With that being said, take a breath, get some rest, have some fun, and GET HYPED FOR BMUN!!!!
Best,
Shaan
